Howard J Kapp, Orthopedic Surgeon

Our Services

Dr. Kapp currently uses a minimally invasive single posterior approach incision. The incision for total hip replacement has been one of the biggest areas of advancement in the past 4 to 5 years. The incision traditionally was as long as 12 inches. Recently, the use of the posterior lateral approach, has become more universally used. The purpose of an incision is to provide enough exposure for the surgeon to accomplish the operation by placing the components (parts) into the correct position in the bone so that good fixation will occur, as well as good mating of the implants to permit comfort for the patient, stability of the implants, and long term durability.
