Jon S. Dounchis MD, specializes in and has performed thousands of knee, hip, shoulder, arthroscopic and replacement procedures at NCH for over 15 years. Dr. Dounchis works collaboratively with his patients to develop customized treatment plans that include both surgical and non-surgical options in order to restore optimal function so patients can return activities of everyday life!
Integrating both expertise and state-of-the-art technology, he utilizes precise and minimally invasive techniques for joint replacement. This technology includes robotic joint replacement, ( MAKOplasty®), which uses robotic technology to assist the surgeon to precisely provide patient-specific partial knee and total hip replacements.
For total knee replacements, a very precise computer navigation and computer balancing system is utilized to optimally align and balance the knee joint. Dr. Dounchis also specializes in direct anterior hip replacement, hip resurfacing, reverse and total shoulder replacement, sports medicine, and arthroscopic surgery including injuries below:
Jon. S. Dounchis, MD, is board certified in Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. He has trained at the nation’s leading medical centers. Dr. Dounchis received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Dounchis completed two years of additional fellowship training in joint replacement, arthroscopic surgery, sports medicine and cartilage repair at University of California at San Diego and at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Dr. Dounchis is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and the Collier County Medical Society. He is an international instructor, and involved in clinical research and product development on advanced surgical techniques using robotic and computer assisted techniques including MAKOplasty®. He provides community lectures on musculoskeletal care, joint replacement, and orthopedic injuries. He enjoys tennis, golf, fishing, boating, and spending time with his wife and three children.
